PART 1 - WALK DOWN THE AISLE - The walk down the aisle represents the symbolic beginning of the couple's journey together. Each step along the way is a visual representation of the transition to a marriage life to be shared with the partner. The company of a parent or a significant person represents the support and love from family and friend. How would you both like to perform the WALK DOWN THE AISLE?

PART 2 - WELCOME STATEMENT - The welcome statement is the moment to unify all hearts and minds of the participants in a warm vibration of love towards the couple. It is the moment to greet the participants, offer a warm message to the couple, as well as bringing a positive message regarding the importance of the marriage union. We offer to start with the words below and conduce the participants to a brief guided concentration. The goal is to invite all participants into a pleasant state of mind as we conjure together the vibrations of love for the beautiful union. EXAMPLE: “Welcome dear friends! Please be seated. We have gathered together today to celebrate the union of (state the names of the couple). This gift of marriage is miraculous, and this ceremony presents us with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the love shared between these two souls.” Do you have any observation about the WELCOME STATEMENT part?

PART 3 - SERMON - The sermon is a moment of encouragement, guidance and inspiration to the couple, reminding them of the challenges and joys of marriage. It can be beautified by a special poem or text which brings a message of love and endurance for the marriage union. We recite the sermon with our own words and also include a special poem, sacred text, message or anything else inspired by the faith or theme language you both choose. We also perform a surprise as the symbol of the union. Would you like to include any specific sacred text, poem, message, or anything else for the SERMON part? Do you want to invite anyone else to be part of it?

PART 4 - CONSECRATION - The consecration of marriage is the moment to bless the couple's union to the care of universal divine currents of love to receive blessings beyond our ordinary understanding and a graceful guidance for their future together. It is a prayer for the long term wellbeing of the wedding couple. This consecration doesn’t require necessarily any specific religion or spiritual orientation. We offer a blessing called handfasting for this consecration. It consists of an ancient folk European tradition that the couple cross both hands symbolizing the infinity of the long term commitment. The hands will be tied together by a special ribbon that represents the union. We consecrate the marriage with a universal prayer that could be adapted to any religion, spiritual path or non-traditional. PART 5 - EXCHANGING VOWS - The exchange of vows offers the couple a moment to publicly and directly express their love, commitment and devotion for one another. It should include a promise to respect each other, take care of one another, and to work together even when the relationship faces difficulties or trials. You both can choose to custom write vows individually to each other using “I” or create one vow together using “we” inspired by some Buddhist traditions. Some couples prefer to write letters and read for each other privately. How do you prefer to share your vows?

PART 6 - DECLARATION OF INTENT - This is the only element of the ceremony that must legally occur in order to officiate the marriage: “Do you (Partner #1), take (Partner #2) to be your lawfully wedded (husband/wife/spouse/partner).” Answer: “I do” Do you both want to be referred as husband and wife, spouses or something else?

PART 7 - RING EXCHANGE - The ring exchange is the symbol of the union, lifelong commitment, and devotion to one another. The circular shape evokes the couple’s unending commitment. The wedding promises are sealed with the ring exchange Do you have a ring bearer who will bring the rings to you both? Do you have a flower bearer who will spread flowers around? Would you both like to include any specific act for the RING EXCHANGE part?

PART 8 - THE PRONOUNCEMENT “By the power vested in me, by the Universal Life Church and by the state of _____, I now pronounce you husband and wife.” “You may now kiss your partner/the bride/each other.” “It is my honor to present the newly married couple: (Mr/Mrs.) and (Mr/Mrs.) _____ !” Do you have any observation about the PRONOUNCEMENT part?
